The healthcare system continues to battle treatment-resistant strains of bacteria and viruses, how to effectively treat them, and how to prevent them. Anolyte eliminates this problem by not only killing the bacteria present, but by disrupting the mitochondrial DNA eliminating any possibility of resistance mutation. The same cannot be said for other chemical biocides and even many antibiotics.
Hypochlorous Acid in the Body
A white blood cell attacking bacteria with hypochlorous acid, the active ingredient in EcaFlo® Anolyte.
Chemistry similar to the human cell is performed by the electro-chemical activation process in our equipment. A metastable mixture of compounds formed during cellular phagocytosis produces hypochlorous acid as a very effective means for microbial destruction.
As a strong oxidizing solution, hypochlorous acid produces irreversible damage of essential functions of the microorganism’s biopolymers at the level of electron transmission. This process effectively destroys all large systematic groups of microorganisms (bacteria, microbacteria, viruses, fungi, spores) without damaging human tissues and other multi-cellular system organisms.
Surface Disinfection
Controlling bacteria on hard surfaces, walls, floors, utensils, equipment, and containers can be accomplished by using catholyte to remove protein load, followed by anolyte to sanitize the surface. Anolyte has a major advantage over bleach because of it’s neutral 6.5 pH and will not irritate eyes, wounds and skin, whereas bleach has a 12 pH, irritates skin and is not safe for eyes or wounds.
Case Studies
AIDS Prevention in Dentistry
Anolyte’s ability to reduce bio-film within water piping systems is particularly important in the dental industry. In the USA a case study was carried out on eleven people who had died from AIDS. The source of the AIDS contamination of each of these people in the case study was, at the time, unexplainable. A thorough investigation traced the source of contamination back to a particular dentist who had also subsequently died of AIDS. The bacterial bio-film contamination in the dentists irrigation lines was identified as the most likely source of this contamination.
